Q. No results are showing up
1. Check that your search folder is registered under Settings → Index tab. 2. Make sure indexing has completed. 3. If the threshold is too strict, lower it in the advanced settings. 4. Results including OCR text may take a moment to appear right after indexing.
Q. Semantic search results aren't accurate
Try a more specific keyword. Different phrasings can produce different results. Lowering the score threshold will return more candidates.
Q. How do I search for text visible in a photo?
Type the text directly in the Search by Meaning field. OCR-indexed text from images is included in results automatically. Note: OCR search is available for image files only, not videos.
Q. Video files aren't showing up in search
Videos are supported in semantic search (Search by Meaning) only. They are not supported for image similarity search, face search, or OCR search.
Index
Q. The initial index is taking very long
More images means more time. RAW files, high-resolution images, and images with dense text take especially long (OCR processing is included). Please wait for indexing to complete. Going forward, enable Background Monitoring (Pro) so only new or changed files are re-indexed.
Q. Newly added images aren't showing up
Go to Settings → Index tab and run the index again. Or enable Background Monitoring (Pro) to handle this automatically.
Q. I want to rebuild the index from scratch
Go to Settings → Index tab → Delete Index, then run the index again.
Pins & Display
Q. My pin list is empty
Pins are stored in a local database and are only available on the same Mac. Check that you haven't accidentally unpinned them (a confirmation dialog appears before unpinning).
Q. Quick Look isn't showing the image
Check that the file exists locally. Files stored only in iCloud will appear after they are downloaded.
Compatibility & Limitations
Q. What's the difference between Free and Pro?
The free version includes the core search features: image search, semantic search, and face search. Pro adds multiple folder indexing, subfolder search, background monitoring, pin, compare, delete, and advanced settings. Upgrade from the app menu → "Upgrade to Pro…"
Q. Photos stored in iCloud aren't showing up
Files that are stored in iCloud only (not downloaded locally) are not processed by SeekShot. Download the files to your Mac first, then run the index.
Q. RAW image processing is slow
RAW and high-resolution images take longer to process. Images that have already been indexed are searched at normal speed.
