Features

Everything ThroughView does. And everything it deliberately does not.

ThroughView is a focused tool. It does one thing well: let you see your images across folder hierarchies without touching them. Here is exactly what it offers.

Core capabilities

Recursive folder browsing

Open any folder and ThroughView traverses the entire hierarchy, including nested subfolders. No need to open each folder one by one.

Unified image view

All images across the selected folder tree are displayed in a single, scrollable view. Browse without switching between individual folders.

Read-only by design

ThroughView never writes to your files. No duplicates. No metadata changes. Your folders remain exactly as they are.

Progressive loading

Images load progressively as they are discovered. You can begin browsing immediately while the rest of the folder continues to load.

Native macOS format support

Supports common image formats recognized by macOS, including JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, WebP, and BMP. RAW support depends on macOS version and camera model.

Local file access

Images are read directly from your file system. ThroughView does not create copies or maintain its own image database.

Also worth knowing

No import or catalog

No library to build. No catalog to maintain. Just open a folder.

No file modification

ThroughView does not write metadata or alter your files in any way.

macOS native

Built for macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel.

No account system

No sign-up. No cloud account. License activation is required after purchase.
